Benefits of Giving through HCCEF

A Personal Approach to Philanthropy

People come to HCCEF with a desire to make a positive difference in their own communities.  We specialize in creating unique plans for donors that speak directly to their particular giving interests.

For you, if might be setting up a scholarship fund or supporting a specific nonprofit group in your neighborhood.  It might mean giving back to your alma mater, supporting a theater or expanding the capacity of a clinic to serve the health needs of children.

It might mean creating a legacy, to allow your philanthropic wishes to continue beyond your own lifetime.

Simplicity

HCCEF makes it easy for donors to invest back into their communities.  We’ll work with you and your financial advisors to design a giving plan suited to your personal charitable and financial goals.

Once your plan is in place, we can also assist with paperwork, financial reporting, taxes, grant making, asset management and research into organizations.

Tax Advantages

You can donate a variety of assets to HCCEF to receive the financial and tax benefits that best suit your needs.  When comparing community foundations with private foundations, you will find that community foundations are not subject to certain undesirable taxes and regulations that do affect private foundations.

Guidance

Many of our fund options give you the opportunity to become directly involved in grant making.  Our HCCEF Board members bring with them a broad range of community experiences. You may wish to tap into this knowledge base, when you are ready to explore local issues and organizations that you might want to support or learn more about.

Responsibility

Through our relationship with the Greater Des Moines Community Foundation, our funds are invested by some of the top financial advisors.  These experienced financial managers balance good return against protection of principal and capital.  Investments are regularly reviewed by an Investment Committee for conformance with the Foundation’s established policies and practices.
