Awarding Grants to Nonprofit Organizations that Build on Community Assets and Respond to Community Needs

HCCEF is a "give through" rather than a "give to" organization — fundraising not for our own operations, but developing funds which are distributed locally.

We strengthen our community by granting the earnings from each endowment fund to charitable programs and nonprofit organizations, matching donors’ wishes to local needs.

Areas of grant making focus on:

  • Enhancing health and human services
  • Strengthening neighborhoods and community development
  • Advancing education
  • Supporting children, youth and families
  • Promoting arts and culture, including historic preservation
  • Protecting the environment

We work to strengthen local nonprofits by offering a variety of training programs and networking opportunities that build their capacity and organizational structure.

In all our activities, we strive to make a difference in the lives of people who live, work and play in Hardin County.
